The award winning German stove and furniture manufacturer, Conmoto, launched brand new indoor/ outdoor furniture ranges in HPL at this year’s IMM show in Cologne.

New Tension Collection

The new Tension collection uses contrasting materials to great effect. The natural teak bars and traditional wedges set off the more modern aesthetic of the HPL – available in white, anthracite or with a wenge finish.

This material´s weather resistance and high level of rigidity, combined with low material thickness mean that HPL is predestined for outdoor use. The design line “Jig” has been specially developed to use this modern material, whose distinct qualities have led us to also creating distinct shapes. This can be seen in the soft cut-outs in the table´s substructure, but also in that of the chairs. Here, milled slots in the seat and backrest give the material a degree of elasticity and thus improve the seating comfort. Lightweight cushioning enhances the effect.

The high-end SEASONS collection displays a sensuous presence next to the fireplace in the house. In its extremely minimalist form the American walnut wood exudes a deep sense of peace. Fine inserts in dark bog oak interact with the solid strength of the walnut and in their function as discreet constructional elements also pay tribute to the eternal processing skills of the craftsman.

SEASONS is an invitation to change, to adopt a playful approach to the room. What was just now a place to sit is instantly transformed into an attractive side table. At the turn of a hand individual tableaux present a completed altered table scenario: the basic platforms in three sizes, supplemented by trays and tableau-type accessories in wood- and leather-covered metal then round off the collection. Two cushions in different sizes offer the eye-catching material contrast between tanned cow hide and virgin wool felted fabric, all in obvious and tangible premium quality.

This all stands on a sound basis. The carpets in pure virgin wool felt, produced by a high-profile north German manufacturer, are framed in leather borders in the best tradition of the craftsman. The three specially designed colour schemes in dark brown, dark aubergine and urban black for the cushions and carpets highlight the special aesthetic appeal of the material.

HAND FORGED IRON

A range of hand forged fire tools and accessories from Marco Ferreri. Made

in an ancient workshop which uses a five hundred year old water-driven

hammer, the material for each implement is sourced from recycled iron and

old railway tracks.

industrial container can be transformed to take on a new appearance and new

This three piece fire tool set and stand are a formal and functional

addition to the Scarpa Collection. Tobia Scarpa, son of Architect Carlo

Scarpa, studied architecture at the University of Venice and has been

designing lighting, furniture and other objects since 1957. Since 1960 he

has worked in close collaboration with Afra Scarpa and their projects are

presented in the greatest museums worldwide.

ROLL

Roll modern ethanol fire created quite a stir at this year’s Decorex.

Designed by Sieger Design, Roll provides warmth and a focal point wherever

it’s used. Roll moves on bearings, and can be locked in place by simply

fitting the optional wall bracket, which can of course be used to wall mount

the fire too. The 2 glass firescreens are fitted to Roll with magnets,

making them easily removeable, and giving quick access to the stainless

steel fire chamber.

Roll produces approximately 1kw of heat.

GATE

Gate log burning stove by Carsten Gollnick for Conmoto. Modern German design

log burning stove with impressive 10kw heat output, Gate is the interior

designer and architect’s dream, with its clean and simple lines and

outstanding functionality.

SHELL EASY CHAIR

Shell lounge chair is a modern European design by Jan des Bouvrie for

FueraDentro, Amsterdam. Shell has a retro look & feel, and is one of the

most comfortable (!) collections we have supplied in over 13 years.

The furniture is available in a range of colours, including the “Cendre”

finish shown here, which is already proving to be a big hit. High grade

electro-polished stainless steel and Batyline fibre are cutting edge

materials with exceptional durability in the most demanding exterior

Also shown at this year’s Decorex was the Shell garden lounger, designed for

FERRO A FUOCO

Conmoto Germany recently announced the buy-out of Italian fire tools company

Dimensione Fuoco. The new collection includes a range of fire tools, fire

screens, log holders and many other accessories. Pictured are the Ferro A

Fuoco hand-forged iron fire tools. These are availble with a stand, wall

mounts or as stand alone pieces. The Dimensione Fuoco collection maintains

RIZZ

RiZZ  Pro & Made to Measure door mats reduce dirt walked into your premises

by some 80%. The brush profile has been designed in such a way that dirt

isn’t absorbed by the mat, but actually falls through it. Maintenance is

simple: roll up the mat and brush away the dirt. You can also rinse the mat

out every now and then. The mat is highly appreciated for its high level of

efficacy and user-friendliness. Rizz have now launched their “made to

The most funny parasol you’ve ever seen. The design is a reply to the kitschy parasols on an exotic beach. When closing your eyes you can even hear the Mediterranean wind whistling in the fringes….

Frou Frou canopy measures 2.5m diameter, and is made from airtex polyester fabric with polypropylene raffia fronds, available in white, black or green. Frou Frou’s mast is made from stainless steel. Frou Frou is available in two heights of 2.4m or 2.6m.

D-LUX

Straight minimalist lines are known to result in pure shapes. Therefore achieving purity in design, working with female curves, and convex- or concave surfaces, is much more of a challenge. This exercise gets even more complex when the outcome not only needs to look sleek but also needs to provide optimal ergonomics and comfort. Nevertheless, all these requirements have been met by cutting and forming aluminium plates into these exceptionally beautiful shapes that are so typical of D-LUX furniture. Indeed, the word ‘ordinary’ simply does not feature in a description of D-LUX furniture. The collection includes sun loungers, a striking dining table, carver chairs and dining chairs.

QT

You could regard the products under the RED LABEL umbrella, as our “light” collection.

Light in this case does not necessarily refer to their weight, even though when developing the range the focus was on an economical use of material, without compromising the overall quality and refinement, a feature that has given the Royal Botania brand its worldwide appreciation. In this RED LABEL family two lines of chairs called QT and BOKZ are complimented with the SEXION table range. The latter comes in a variety of colours, sizes and materials so as to ensure sure you can find that perfect match. BOKZ

A box-like folded seat suspended in a tubular aluminium space-frame might not be the first thing that comes to mind when imagining a comfortable chair. Nevertheless, this original concept reveals more than just good looks, it also offers more comfort than you might expect once the inside is clad with the fine upholstery of the matching cushions. The latter not only bring comfort, but the wide range of colours also allow you to customize your BOKZ chair, and thus make it even more appealing.

Pattern has been exhibited in several museums and was chosen as “Best Shelving of the Year” by Wallpaper magazine.
Pattern is made of an aluminum composite material and is available in several dimensions.

Collar by Nendo

Quodes has introduced cabinets designed by Japanese designer Nendo.

Nendo drew inspiration for Collar from the collar of a shirt. Quodes have extended the range with an affordable bookcase and show case.

Hexagon by Nendo

Hexagon is a contemporary interpretation of a form first seen in ancient Greek geometry. The regular six-sided units are each divided by vertical sheets. When stacked they produce a beautiful rotational symmetry, typical of the hexagon, which Nendo cleverly exploits. Hexagon is made of powder coated aluminum / steel, heights from 36 cm to 178 cm and in black or white. Other colours on request.

Tips for creating your own outdoor living space

Outdoor spaces do not have to be huge for you to create an inviting, usable and social area of your home for garden dining and relaxing. All it takes is a little planning, the right plants and of course some stylish contemporary outdoor furniture, and it doesn’t have to break the bank (apologies to Sir Fred the Shred Goodwin).

Inside out

Usually an outdoor space follows on from a room in the home; it really works if you try and continue to bring your contemporary indoor style outdoors so that there is a smooth transition between the two living areas. This can be done through either colour or by the style of the garden furniture as well as the planters and of course the shape and scale of the plants. For additional indoor comfort and texture, why not try garden carpet for your outdoor space!

Take your well honed interior design skills outside and find that special place that you are going to centre your outdoor design upon. This could be anywhere from a gentle water feature, a terrace, deck or patio, a particular blossoming tree or an architectural feature from the outside of your house or garden room. From there, think about the aesthetic that’s going to match that area. Once you have an idea of that, consider what colours and textures used in the furniture are going to blend with your surroundings. Once you have built up these ideas, have a think about what size and function you want the furniture to fit e.g. are you going to want an extendable dining table to seat extra guests, or a table of fixed size.

Think about the sun

Some “sun worshippers” will always be happy getting as much sun as they can. However, at times, shade is an important consideration. Parasols are an ideal way of spending more time outside, whilst being shaded directly from the harmful rays.
